VB Tutorial: Printing Acetate (from my phone!)

Hey VillaBabes! It’s Heather here with another blog! Today, we are going to be making some acetate using the digitals included in the "Dream Big" villabeauTIFFul kit preorder.  The digitals are super fun to play with, and definitely a huge incentive to preorder your monthly VBKit.

I’m going to show you how to do this using my iPhone, so this is going to be a longer post in the interest of making sure I show all of the steps. These steps should translate directly into how to do this from your iPad as well. (Apologies to Team Android, unfortunately I don’t own any Android devices)

What you need:

Inkjet Transparency Film

Wi-fi Enabled Printer

Paper Trimmer

Hole Punch (if you use a ring planner)

Step 1: First, you need to make sure your wi-fi enabled printer is connected to the same wi-fi network as your iPhone. Most printers will not require any other set up in order to print from your iPhone, but check with the manufacturer if it does not automatically connect.

Step 2: Open your email from villabeauTIFFul and click on your download link!

Step 3: After you click the link, it will take you to a screen that has a big black bar that says Download Now, and that’s what we are going to do!

Step 4: In the top right corner of your Safari browser, there is an arrow pointing down, when the blue bar is complete that means your download is complete, and you need to click there next.

Step 5: When you click on the download, it will take you to Files on your iPhone. Depending on how many things you’ve downloaded, it might be somewhere different than mine, but the file should be called “Feb_DreamBig_Digitals.zip” by default. When you click on that zip file, it will automatically unzip and then there will be a file titled “Feb_DreamBig_Digitals.”

Step 6: The next screen is going to be the two folders included in the zip files.  One file has all of the clipart and the second file has all of the papers. For this tutorial, we are printing acetate, so we are going to start with Paper.

Step 7: Now, pick your paper! After you choose the one you want to use, click on the share button in the bottom left hand corner.

Step 8: Now the fun part! Before you click Print, we need to make sure the acetate is loaded print side up for your printer - there are instructions included with the transparency film on which side is which. After printing on the acetate, the most important part is to WAIT. I know, you want to pull out the paper trimmer and go for it right away, but the ink will smudge right off if you do that.

Step 9: All that’s left is to trim and punch (if you need to for your planner!) I also like printing on vellum as well. Layering is so fun with these digitals, and I like a thicc planner.

Use these steps to print the clipart included with the digitals as well. My silhouette fights with me at every opportunity, so I usually “fussy cut” the clip art out. I also love to laminate the acetate after printing on it, you can cut around to make a super cute page marker!
