VB Tutorial: Dashboard w/ Pocket

Hello Luvs,

It's your girl CheKesha Simms and I want to share with you how I create Laminated Dashboards w/ Pockets using the paper pack that came with this month's kit (August VBKit | VB Studio).

Below I will list the items I used along with some photos:

Papers from paper pack (if you need more you can download and print digital papers as well.
8 x 5 1/2 Laminate pouches ( I used 7 pouch | 6 for dashboard & 1 to make pockets.)
Craft board
Corner Rounder
Ruler
Exacto Knife ( or a craft knife)
Slicer or Scissors
Laminator

Now that we got our list of items let's start creating.

Step 1. You will need cut your papers to match the size of your planner. (I'm creating for a B6 so I made them a little bigger than my inserts which measures at approx. 5 x 7)

Step 2. Next you will take the extra laminate pouch and cut small squares/rectangles to create pockets.

Step 3. Now you want to lay your cut papers and pockets in between the laminate. When you place the laminate pockets on the paper you want to make sure you pull apart the pockets and place the glossy sides together so it will open when you cut the pocket open after you laminate (the pockets will slide so be careful as you lay them on the papers).

Step 4. Once you've carefully placed your pockets on top of paper, close the laminate pouch and carefully feed it through your laminator.

Step 5. After you have fed it through, now it's time to cut the pockets open. You want to place the dashboard on your craft board. Then take your ruler and line it up at the top of the pocket and cut along the top where there is an air pocket. Put your exacto knife up against the ruler to use as your guide.

Step 6. Now that you have cut your pockets open, it's time to trim the excess off your dashboard.

Step 7. After you have trimmed the dashboard to size, I like to round my corners because the edges can be a bit sharp.

After I round the corners I then cut a groove at the top and bottom of the spine to keep it from rubbing the strings.

Step 8. Final step is to fold your dashboard and then use a bone knife or something with a dull edge to crack the spine so it can close around your insert.

Now you're done!!! You have a custom dashboard with pockets!!
