VB Close Up: Primrose Garden Bujo Spread
Hi VB Fam!

I was so inspired to create all the things with the April Primrose Garden monthly VBKit. I decided to try my hand at a bullet journal (or BUJO) spread. I’m not one to create my own layouts - I prefer to have a foundation. However, this notebook was screaming for something new. I decided to go with a simple layout and use the kit’s contents to try it out. In the end, this turned out to be really simple to create.

The first thing I did was to decide on the placement of my daily boxes. I wanted to create a staggered look rather than a uniform one. I also wanted some variation in the size of the boxes. I used the dots on the page to create them. I made a rough pencil sketch of the layout - a week on two pages- by drawing three boxes on the left side of the page. The first two boxes are 9 dots across and 8 dots down. I used a larger box, 12 dots across and 8 boxes down, to act as an anchor for that side of the spread.I didn’t want the page design to look too boxy. I thought that having varied sizes would add some variety and character to the page. This is solely based on personal preference, so you can experiment on blank paper to get the look you desire. On the opposite side, I used the same dimensions for the boxes, but I alternated the placement to create balance and cohesion.
Next, I added the monthly header and weekday abbreviations.
The next step was to go over my pencil lines with a black pen. Be sure to do a pen test first to be sure the pen you choose does not bleed through. I tried the Unipin pen that came with the kit, but the ink bled through, so I used a Sharpie S-Gel instead. There was some minor shadowing on the opposite side, but I was okay with that. After making sure the ink was dry, I used a gum eraser to get rid of the pencil lines.
Next comes the best part. I used the kit stickers and a little bit of washi tape for accents.
Then I used the transparent circle sticky notes as design elements. I cut some of the circles in half and layered them throughout the spread.
That’s it! Simple and gorgeous thanks to the amazing artistry from The Primrose Corner and Tiffany’s vision.
