Let me start by saying the May "Be Well" VBKit is absolutely what we all didn’t know we needed! With a focus on self-care, it’s release has been timed perfectly! For me, school is out for the summer, and this teacher definitely needs to recharge and refresh. Part of that involves dedicating some time to take care of myself. I have tried using a variety of wellness journals throughout the year. Honestly, I am awful at being consistent with self-care. The Be Well VBKit is just what I need to make sure I hold myself accountable because it includes my favorite VB item so far - the wellness journal. The thoughtful design and the compact size is perfect because it’s not overwhelming. It’s not “just one more thing to do.” I decided that for my blog post this month, I would share with you how I used the sticker book alongside the new VB sticker pack to create a quick and simple layout that will make it easy for me to stay aboard the self-care train!
Supplies used from the Be Well VBKit: Wellness Journal “Lines” 7.5mm washi tape VB Sticker book VB Sticker pack Be Well VBPen
Other supplies: Tombow brush marker No. 772 Cricut tweezers
I started this spread by laying down some of the washi tape. I love the pattern, and I have been trying my best to use the washi in my layouts instead of just swooning over how gorgeous it is. I chose to use the smaller tape so that I wouldn’t take up a huge amount of space. I also thought it would be a cute idea to use the thin washi as my “battery level.’ It was the same width as the battery artwork, so it’s a perfect way to visualize my energy level. I used my tweezers to make sure I placed the tape down evenly across each space.
Next, I added some of the mini icons to the boxes to highlight exercise, self-care, and meals. Using the mini icons added just the right amount of deco without taking up too much of my writing space.
After placing down those mini icons, I turned to the sticker book. I chose to use just one of the deco boxes in the corner of the right page.
Then I decided that I could use this page more effectively if I used it as a bulleted list. So I grabbed three icons from the sticker pack and dedicated a space for thoughts, ideas, and reflection. I used the word sticker in the top right corner as a little reminder and because, you know, it was too stinkin’ cute!
Now it was time to add my entries for the day. I used the Be Well VBPen to write out my positive affirmation. You can easily find one or 100 to fit any mood you are trying to capture by going to Pinterest. I put down my daily step goal, my nightly sleep goal, and three transparent circles for my daily meals. After adding my mood and bullet categories, I was almost done.
I decided to add a little more color by tracing over my words with a Tombow brush marker. I wanted to compliment the colors of the kit, so I used marker number 772. I was careful to allow the VBPen ink to dry completely before using the marker. I used very light pressure to ensure that the ink did not smear.
And that’s it. A cute little functional spread that took me about 15 minutes to complete. Pairing the two sets of stickers gave me plenty of options to be able to add deco and maintain its functionality. My goal is to use this each day to make sure I am intentional about taking care of myself!
As a mom, grandmother, and wife, I spend the majority of my time taking care of others, so sometimes I forget about my needs. If you’re anything like me, sometimes you need little reminders. I’ll share with you some advice my mom once gave me: “You cannot pour from an empty cup.” Make sure you fill your cup daily so that you can then pour into others!
I hope that you enjoyed this little planning session. When (and not if) you use your VB Wellness Journal, tag me @drinkcoffee.makestuff and @shopvillabeautifful on Instagram and make sure you post in the VillabeauTIFFul Community Facebook group. I’d love to see how you choose to take care of you!
Genius idea to use the 7.5mm washi as the battery, Keisha!
